Information on the 2020 United States Presidential and Congressional Elections

What Happens?

What happens on the Primary and General Election dates?

  • In the Primary Election, you vote for the candidate that you want to represent your political party in the later General Election.
  • In the General Election, you vote from the primary winners for the people who will become our next President, Senators, and Representatives.
  • You can vote for different political parties in the Primary and General Elections. You are not committed to voting for the same party in the General Election that you voted for in the Primary Election.

What do I need to bring to vote on Election Day?

  • If you are registered to vote, you do not need to bring your Voter Registration Card. The poll workers can look you up in the system. But according to Texas state law, you do need to bring identification. Please see this page for the accepted forms of identification: https://www.hidalgocounty.us/1494/Voter-ID.

Where do I vote?
