Rio Grande Valley Butterflies: Online Resources

Butterflies and Moths of North America (BAMONA) is an ambitious effort to collect, store, and share species information and occurrence data. You can participate by taking and submitting photographs of butterflies, moths, and caterpillars.

A real-time, online checklist and photo storage program, e-Butterfly is providing a new way for the butterfly community to report, organize and access information about butterflies in North America. Launched in 2011, e-Butterfly provides rich data sources for basic information on butterfly abundance, distribution, and phenology at a variety of spatial and temporal scales across North America.

Our aim is to develop a comprehensive online resource that will include information on taxonomy and identification, distribution and habitat, life history and bibliography for all butterfly taxa in America, including species, subspecies and undescribed geographic variants.

Monarch Watch started in 1992 at the University of Kansas as an outreach program dedicated to engaging the public in studies of Monarchs. It is now concentrating its efforts on Monarch conservation. Through its website you may also track any tagged Monarchs you come across.
