Immigration

Ellis Island

New York Passenger Records 1820 - 1957 contains the passenger lists of almost 65 million immigrants, passengers, and crew members who came through Ellis Island and the Port of New York.  From 1892 to 1924, Ellis Island saw the largest number of human migration.

FamilySearch

Immigration records can provide a researcher with the person's nationality, place of birth, and place of last residence. Some records also include the person's occupation and their age, height, eye and hair color. It can also provide the ship's name and date of entry to the United States.

 

To see this information in FamilySearch, register (if you do not have a free account) or login. Go to Search and select Records. On the bottom right, select Browse All Published Collections. Scroll down (left side) and select Migration and Immigration.
